What is the Inner MBA program?

The Inner MBA Program brings together top socially conscious CEOs, globally renowned wisdom teachers, neuroscientists, and emotional intelligence experts all in one place for students to learn from.

In this 9-month immersion program, the next wave of rising star employees, business owners, executives, nonprofit leaders and more come together to learn from some of the world’s greatest minds. What do our students have in common? They have a strong desire to use business as a force for good in the world, and they want to stay ahead of the curve with changes happening in their industry by cultivating inner skills.

At the conclusion of the training, participants receive a Certificate of Completion from the Inner MBA program.

In addition, each trimester students have an opportunity to receive one of the following certificates:

1. Becoming a Mindful Leader
2. Building Exceptional Teams
3. Making Your Work a Force for Good

The Inner MBA virtual program will begin on September 18, 2021, and will conclude on May 21, 2022.

Why do we need an Inner MBA
program now?

With conscious business on the rise, two major trends are emerging. The first relates to inner development. Presence, mindfulness, empathy, deep listening, and staying composed under pressure are a must have for leadership, business success, and team development.

Additionally, the public today wants more from the companies they buy from and work for. People want to support companies that are aligned with their values, that care about the planet and our collective future. As a reflection of this in the marketplace, we’ve seen the rapid rise of sizable movements like conscious business, servant leadership, and B Corps.

The Inner MBA program brings together the top transformational teachers of these skills, with leading socially conscious CEOs, executives, and business leaders for you to learn from all in one place. When you join the Inner MBA program you will have the world’s foremost leaders in values-driven business, neuroscience, psychology, mindfulness, compassion, and social innovation giving you a well-rounded education in just nine months.

“I believe that in today's world, and in the not so distant future, the most valuable and admired business leaders will be those who engage deeply and authentically with other humans in a professional setting.

The Inner MBA has helped me to become aware of this distinction and to put it into practice with simple but powerful exercises that blend modern science with ancient wisdom. The course has taught me to go deep and to internalize this learning so I feel confident and grounded.”

Fernando Alday

How is the Inner MBA program different from a traditional MBA?

The Inner MBA is a Certificate program, not an accredited MBA Program. Unlike traditional MBA programs, which focus primarily on outer skills, the Inner MBA program is a complementary certificate that gives you skills and practices such as resilience, presence, creativity, collaboration and time management. Attaining these skills is more important than it’s ever been.

Having this Certificate of Completion from NYU can help employees stand out amongst other applicants in a job search or promotion, because employers are looking for these inner skills at an unprecedented rate.

For both employees and entrepreneurs, the skills taught in The InnerMBA can help develop higher levels of creativity, stronger leadership, and increased productivity with less stress.

As the speed of business change accelerates, the inner skills of managers and employees will become the differentiating factor between those organizations that stagnate and those that thrive..

“To experience this course, at this unique time in history is such a profound and unexpected gift. It’s also a call to action. To do the inner work honestly and earnestly is so humbling, and also so liberating.

I am already applying what I am learning in my work and am now leading with greater calm and ease, less urgency and angst.

I now actually look forward to challenges and difficult conversations as a "game on" test for my ability to stay true to my higher self. I feel lighter and more real, freed from the baggage I have picked up over the years and the burdens I have concocted. I have new passion and purpose. And I still have the course to complete!”

Annette Brennan

"We're living in a time when it's so important for business to drive this new economy, this new view, this aspirational future of business as a force for good."

Practicing Presence and the Art of Self Management

We spend a lot of time in business learning how to manage other people. But what about managing ourselves? Self-management skills can be learned by anyone who puts in the time. They help you stay composed, centered, and on purpose, while reducing conflict and misdirected energy. We’ll explore this topic from a mindfulness perspective, as well as the latest findings in neuroscience and how the brain reacts to stress.

ONLINE MODULE 3

Increasing Emotional Intelligence at Work

For many cutting edge companies, EQ is becoming more important than IQ. This challenges the decades old belief system that tells us to leave our emotions at home. Instead we’re invited to explore emotions effectively in a work context. The many benefits of emotional intelligence at work include faster conflict resolution, and more inclusive and empathetic discussions where everybody feels heard. This naturally leads to more cooperative, creative and productive teams.

What we will be exploring:

“In my 15 years of leadership, I thought that my EQ (emotional intelligence) did me well, and it did. But what the Inner MBA helped me see is an awareness level beyond just the EQ with others, but also with myself. I did not expect to understand myself even better, thinking I was very tuned to myself as a regular yogi and mediation practitioner. I am beyond impressed with the quality of our faculty. The best leadership course I have ever studied.”

ONLINE MODULE 4

Skillfully Navigating Difficult Conversations

In order to stay current and authentically connected with people at work, we need to develop the skill of engaging in difficult conversations. While uncomfortable, having difficult conversations in a skillful way can release pent-up energy in teams and create clarity, ease, flow, and genuine connection at work. Learning how to prepare for and deliver difficult information with skill and grace is one of the hallmarks of a conscious leader.

ONLINE MODULE 5

Increasing Collaboration Through Investigating Beliefs and Assumptions

We often make assumptions when we go to make big decisions, plan, or execute our ideas. What if our assumptions about ourselves, others and projects we’re working on are incorrect? In this module you’ll receive processes that will help you test your assumptions, and begin to solve real world challenges from a more informed state. These processes will support you to increase collaboration, innovation, creativity and performance.

ONLINE MODULE 6

Celebrating Differences and Honoring Our Interconnection

As leaders in a new way of doing business, we must learn to understand other people’s perspectives and practice inclusion. This module will support you to understand how to work with different work styles, thought patterns, strengths, and limitations. You’ll learn from top trainers currently working to increase awareness on these important topics.

What we will be exploring:

“The Inner MBA experience has exceeded my expectations. Although I have a background in contemplative practices, the exposure to leaders and teachers who have demonstrated, lived and acted these values and beliefs in small business to corporate environments has been important to me. This program has allowed me to integrate contemplative language in the context of business structure and ethos.

On a more personal level, the opportunity to fine tune my own “personal declaration” has been inspiring to me. To have an environment that has encouraged a deep embodiment of conscious values has also been noth healing and inspiring. In addition, the relationships that I have been able to experience with my fellow students has also been very valuable. Differing points of view welcomed in an environment focused on deep listening and appreciated has been a powerful experience.”
